Founder & Managing Partner
Jaco White
Jaco brings more than three decades of hands-on experience in manufacturing, operations, and leadership within complex, asset-intensive industrial environments. Over the course of his career, he has progressed from engineering and maintenance roles to senior leadership, ultimately taking full accountability for multi-plant operations with asset bases exceeding R5 billion and workforces of several hundred employees.
His experience spans the full operational lifecycle - from capital project delivery and technology integration to large-scale performance improvement and business turnaround. In recent years, he has led the recovery and repositioning of underperforming operations, restoring stability, unlocking capacity, and improving throughput, reliability, and product capability in demanding manufacturing environments.
Jaco specialises in deriving impactful strategies and translating them into practical, executable plans. His work focuses on improving operational performance through disciplined process optimisation, asset management, and equipment reliability. He applies structured problem-solving, operational excellence and lean manufacturing principles, and system-driven execution to deliver measurable and sustainable results across throughput, quality, cost, and delivery performance.
His background gives Varion a grounded understanding of the realities faced by industrial organisations: pressure on margins, operational complexity, ageing assets, and the challenge of aligning people, processes, and systems to consistently deliver performance on the shop floor.
Jaco holds an MBA from the University of Cape Town, completed with distinction, and is currently pursuing doctoral research focused on how organisations can more effectively translate investments in data and AI into meaningful operational and business value. This perspective informs a pragmatic approach to modern performance improvement, combining operational discipline with emerging digital capabilities.
Varion was created to bridge the gap between strategy and implementation - combining structured analysis with practical, hands-on delivery. The focus is not on theoretical solutions, but on what works in real industrial environments, where execution, discipline, and consistency ultimately determine results.
